It's such a tragedy what happened to Eric Banks. I was reading about the Washington Park area and couldn’t help but wonder about the systemic issues contributing to these incidents. It seems like even though law enforcement was ramping up their efforts in 2016, the violence just wouldn’t let up. It makes me think about how deeply rooted the socioeconomic factors are and how they keep pushing residents into these cycles of violence. There needs to be more access to resources—like education and job opportunities—in these neighborhoods to help prevent future tragedies. Sending thoughts to Eric's family and friends, as a community, we really need to push for sustainable change.
