Has anyone delved into the life of Chief Hubert "Bill" Payne outside of his tragic end? It’s clear he was more than just a badge; he had a life full of service and dedication, especially with his long stint in the U.S. Military Police. I’m curious about his life and character as he transitioned from the military to law enforcement in Dermott. Many people say he was a pillar in the community, but I'd love to hear more personal stories or memories from those who knew him or have collected any anecdotes from the time. His career shift and rapid rise to Chief makes me wonder about his approach and philosophy towards policing.
