I’ve been thinking a lot about the impact of the robbery and murders at the Cornerstone Monument Company. It’s truly chilling to consider how quickly an ordinary day at work can turn into a nightmare. When I heard about Donna Marie Willis Cary, it really stuck with me how dedicated she was—working hard as a truck driver and being an active member of her church community. She definitely seemed like someone who had deep connections and was more than willing to lend a hand to those in her life. What’s so hard to grasp is how senseless these acts of violence are. Donna and Mona, just going about their day, were taken from their families who will now have to carry this pain with them. It is small solace, but at least Thomas has been brought to justice and will not be a threat to anyone else. It’s heart-wrenching to think about the moments leading up to this and how scared they must have been, yet the strength and love their memories carry is something to hold onto. I hope their families have found some peace in the years since. Does anyone know more about the support their church group or community provided in the aftermath? Maybe there are lessons about healing and support we can all learn from.
