I often find myself thinking about Jamal B. Robinson and what his dreams and aspirations might have been. He was just 23 years old, which is way too young to have his life tragically cut short. It's deeply troubling to think about the potential that was lost when he was taken from us. From what I've read, Jamal was found on the 8100 block of South Drexel Avenue, and it breaks my heart to consider how familiar this kind of news is in Chicago, especially in neighborhoods like Chatham that have been hit so hard by violence. It's horrifying to see such patterns continue unchecked, leaving families and communities in mourning, grappling with an unending cycle of grief and fear. I really think we need more dialogue about this part of the issue—how the cycle of violence affects victims' families long after the media's attention has moved on. If we could figure out how to address that, maybe we'd be on the path to some real change. My thoughts go out to Jamal's family and friends. It's devastating to think about how many lives have been shattered in similar ways.
