I was reading about the tragic events that unfolded at Williams Park on May 29, 2017, and my thoughts go out to Richard Wilkins Jr.'s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. I can't help but feel for them, as not only did they lose Richard in such a senseless manner, but they also had to deal with another shocking loss when Kenderick Finwick died in that car accident on the way to support Richard. It's just so much to process all at once. I wonder what impact this has on the community's trust in safety at local parks and how people are coping with the compounded grief. Has there been any community outreach or efforts to address this collective trauma in Blytheville?
I’ve been following the case of Richard Wilkins Jr. and have been struck by how events spiraled beyond belief. What's been on my mind lately is the impact Kenderick Finwick's tragic car accident must have had on his loved ones, happening on the same day he was rushing to see his friend at the hospital. It adds another layer of sorrow and devastation.
Thinking about the two families who have to cope with these back-to-back losses is just overwhelming. It's hard to even imagine the intertwined grief they must be dealing with. While the focus of the legal proceedings is rightly on seeking justice for Richard, I want to remind everyone to also keep Kenderick’s family in your thoughts. They’re navigating a tragedy just as profound, albeit different.
Sending solidarity and compassion to both families. They’re facing an unimaginable journey to healing, and as a community, it’s important to support them in any way we can.
