It's truly difficult to process the loss of Crispin Coliz, not only for those who knew and loved him but also for the entire community that's grappling with ongoing gang violence. One aspect of this case that sticks with me is the location—West Grace Street. It’s chilling to think that places we pass by every day can become the sites of such senseless violence. The fact that this incident was so deeply rooted in the gang's pursuit of power and status just underscores how pervasive the issue is. It’s heartbreaking to realize that lives are being lost in these power struggles, and neighborhoods are being deeply affected by that. Chicagoans deserve to live without fear of crossing paths with such danger. It's small consolation, but I hope that with the indictment of Martinez and Lozoya, authorities are getting closer to dismantling the operations of gangs like the Milwaukee Kings. We need justice for Crispin and others affected by this violence. My thoughts are with his family and all the lives touched by this tragic crime.
