I’ve been following the case of Nateyah Hines and her family, and one detail that really stuck with me was the role of technology in tracking down the perpetrator. It’s chilling to think that Lionel Parks was out on parole and wearing an ankle monitor, which ultimately helped law enforcement pinpoint his movements on that tragic day. It really makes me wonder about the balance between rehabilitation and public safety. While it’s crucial to give people a second chance, the system seems to have failed in ensuring such a chance doesn't endanger innocent lives. My heart goes out to Nateyah's family and friends. This is a reminder of how complex the issue of justice and safety is, especially in communities like Fernwood that are already dealing with so much. Are there better ways we could be monitoring parolees to prevent such tragedies from happening again?
