Another senseless act of violence in Roseland. My heart goes out to the families of Scott Thompson and the other victims. It's chilling to think that the place you're supposed to feel safe—your home—can turn into a scene of such tragedy. I’ve been part of the Chicago community for years, and it’s devastating to witness how commonplace this violence has become. We really need to come together to find solutions, but it often feels like these cries for help go unheard. Have there been any community initiatives that have emerged since 2016 that anyone knows of? Maybe we could spotlight them here to support local efforts in Roseland and surrounding areas.

I can't stop thinking about how the rise in violence in Chicago during 2016 impacted so many families, including Scott Thompson's. It’s devastating to know that a home, which should be a place of safety and comfort, was turned into a site of such horror. The fact that this was one of four homicides that night makes it even more disturbing. I'm particularly concerned about the community of Roseland and how they’re dealing with these security issues. Even though this happened in 2016, the pain and fear must linger for Scott's family and others affected. Has anyone read any follow-up on measures the local authorities have implemented since then to tackle violence in Roseland or other neighborhoods? I really hope more actions have been taken to ensure the safety of people living there.

I've been following the Roseland tragedy from December 17, 2016, and like many of you, I find myself grappling with the immense loss experienced by the families of Scott Thompson, Elijah Jackson, Nateyah Yafah Hines, and Shacora Jackson. It's gut-wrenching to think about the lives cut short and the future moments they'll never have with their loved ones. I can't even begin to imagine how their families are coping with such an unimaginable loss. One thing that really stands out to me—beyond the heartache—is how these incidents reflect broader issues. The link to a supposed home invasion makes me wonder about the pervasive impact of socioeconomic struggles in areas like Roseland. How do we even begin to tackle these deeply rooted problems to prevent such tragedies from happening in the future? My heart goes out to every family member and friend affected by this. It's absolutely crucial for our community to stand together and push for change, both in policy and in support for these affected neighborhoods. What do you all think could be done to make these areas safer and help prevent such violence?
