Does anyone have any information on the broader community response following the tragic death of John D. Garnett in Clifton back in 1911? It's troubling to think that in such a close-knit area, the loss of a young man due to gunfire might have amplified ongoing tensions. Given the climate of unrest and the many issues swirling around, such as labor disputes and racial tensions, I wonder how the townspeople reacted in the days and weeks after his passing. Did the community rally together and push for changes, or was it too fragmented to make any real strides in improving public safety? Clifton was such a small town at the time, so I imagine any incident like this would have reverberated deeply. Hoping someone might have more historical insights or maybe anecdotes passed down from family members who lived there during that time. Thoughts are with Mr. Garnett and his family, even all these years later.
