Something that's been haunting me about the Luna case is the way Rochelle was targeted by Djerf. Knowing she had just turned 18 and had her whole life ahead of her, it’s devastating to think about the fear she must have felt when realizing the betrayal of someone her family once trusted. Being a young adult stepping into the world, Rochelle probably had dreams and aspirations that were abruptly stolen from her. It's sickening to think how Richard Djerf could have harbored such anger to commit these senseless acts, leaving such a huge void in the hearts of all who loved her. How do we even begin to mend the spaces left behind by such profound loss, especially when it's inflicted by someone you believed to be a friend of your family? It's so important that we keep sharing their story, ensuring their memory never fades.
