I've been thinking a lot about the details surrounding Sgt. Kelley’s last moments and can't get over the fact that he was still clutching that driver's license when he was found. It speaks volumes about the kind of officer and person he was — so focused on protecting others and doing his job right to the very end. As a Vietnam vet and a Purple Heart recipient, Sgt. Kelley clearly lived a life of dedication and service. It makes you wonder how many lives he touched in his years of service, both in the military and various police departments. His family and the Ak-Chin community really lost someone special that day. I hope they find some comfort in knowing that his commitment to duty, even to his last breath, truly left a mark.
