I've been thinking a lot about the role kindness played in this case. Leta B. Simmons Kagen's decision to open her home to those in need shows such a big heart. It must have been tough to turn someone away, especially when they're struggling to find a place to stay. Yet, it's absolutely chilling to think that the compassion she showed was so cruelly exploited. I can’t help but wonder how different things might have been if she hadn’t let Robert Poyson into their lives. Hospitality is often seen as a virtue, but here it seems it was tragically taken advantage of. It's terrifying to think that sometimes, you really can’t anticipate the darkness in people’s hearts. For those close to Leta and her family, it's a devastating loss, especially knowing her goodwill was used as a weapon against her. Just a reminder to appreciate and protect the good people in our lives while hoping for justice and peace for Leta’s loved ones.
