It’s been so many years since the tragic loss of Liliana and George, yet the pain still lingers for their families and the community. I was reflecting on how these two young lives were taken so suddenly and violently by the Baseline Killer and how it deeply affected those around them. It's hard to imagine what Liliana’s mother, Juana, went through, having to deal with such an unimaginable loss. The anxiety during that time must have been unbearable, knowing there was a serial killer on the loose. I'm grateful that Mark Goudeau was eventually caught and held accountable, but that can't bring back what was lost. I hope that we never forget Liliana and George and that we continue to support their families as they carry this loss with them every day.
I've been thinking a lot about Liliana Sanchez-Cabrera and her family. It's unimaginable the pain they must have felt and continue to endure after her tragic loss. To have a loved one taken so violently and unexpectedly is something no family should have to experience. I can't help but remember reading about how her mother, Juana Sanchez, shared that thoughts of her daughter linger from morning till night. That's a pain that seems so deep and relentless.
It's also chilling to think how the Baseline Killer terrorized the community during that time. Phoenix wasn't quite the same for those who lived through those fearful days, not knowing where or when he might strike next. The anxiety throughout the city was palpable, and the tragedy that befell Liliana and George made it all the more personal for the people here.
I hope that sharing our thoughts and memories can bring some peace to their families and remind them that their loved ones, especially someone as cherished as Liliana, are not forgotten. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
