Did anyone else hear about the candlelight vigil for Leonardo Martinez last night in the Heart of Italy? The turnout was remarkable and really shows how much he meant to the community. It's so moving to see neighbors standing in solidarity and supporting his family, especially given the tragedy surrounding his loss. It was a reminder of how fragile life can be and how important it is to have each other's backs in times like these. I'm curious about what safety measures might be put in place by local authorities after this incident. Does anyone have any experience with such community responses in Chicago? Has anyone else been following the community response to Leonardo Martinez’s passing? It’s just been incredibly moving to see the Heart of Italy neighborhood rally together after such a senseless tragedy. The vigils and memorials seem to really show how much Leo meant to everyone around him. My heart goes out to his family, especially with a little one in the car during the incident—thank goodness they were unharmed, but I can’t imagine the impact on that child in the future. It’s scary that there are still no suspects, and I really hope someone comes forward with information soon. The neighborhood deserves answers, and Leo’s loved ones need justice.
