I've been following this case closely and one thing that strikes me about the whole situation is the role of surveillance footage. It's incredible and unsettling how much of our movements these days are captured on camera. In this case, it initially helped identify Belmudez, but clearly, it wasn't enough on its own for a conviction until the additional evidence surfaced. I can't imagine how frustrating this must have been for Gabriel and Sanaa's families, having the case seem stalled only to have it pick back up again. Thinking of them during this difficult time and hoping this new evidence will bring them closer to the justice they deserve. It just goes to show how deeply layered and complex these investigations can be.
