I still can't wrap my head around how someone could do something so horrific. What I'm thinking about is the bravery and selflessness that those two women showed in their final moments. I mean, lying on top of their children, shielding them from gunfire—it gives me chills. It's unimaginable to put yourself in their shoes, knowing that was their last act. They gave everything to protect those kids. It’s an unbearable tragedy that their lives ended so suddenly and violently, but those women should be remembered as heroes for their courageous actions. My heart goes out to their families, who must be enduring unimaginable grief. How can anyone justify such senseless violence? It's beyond me. This world needs more empathy and kindness—and a whole lot less of people like Oropeza.
