I’ve been following the unfolding situation with so much concern and heartbreak for Jahcoria Green’s family and friends. One thing that keeps sticking out to me is the role of the short-term rental property where the party happened. It’s alarming to hear neighbors talk about the consistent disturbances at this residence. From what I’ve read, these unregulated short-term rentals can pop up anywhere, and it's only a matter of time before they become hotbeds for unsafe gatherings like this one. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are any rules or regulations currently in place in Dallas to manage short-term rentals? It seems like a conversation the community should be having, not just in response to this tragedy, but to prevent similar situations in the future. It feels like a situation where an extra layer of oversight could potentially prevent these kinds of tragedies. My heart goes out to all those impacted. This should not have happened. We need to find ways to ensure safety in our neighborhoods.
