I keep thinking about how important it is for neighbors and friends to act as a support system for those in abusive relationships. It seems there were signs of trouble with Miriam and her ex-boyfriend, Roger. I'm wondering how effective immediate intervention from friends or community members might have been in potentially altering the horrendous outcome. It's a delicate balance, but it drives home the importance of being vigilant and proactive if you suspect someone might be in danger. We shouldn’t underestimate the impact we could have by simply listening or even encouraging someone to seek help before it's too late. It's such a painful reminder of the reality so many face in silence. My heart goes out to Miriam’s family. I hope they find some solace knowing people are rallying around them and advocating for change.
