On November 4, 2023, deputies and state troopers found two sisters dead from apparent gunshot wounds at a residence on U.S. Highway 271 South near Bluebird Road in Gilmer, Texas. The victims were 37-year-old Dermetrica Dashaunda Waters and her 35-year-old sister Mandy Ray. Witnesses provided information that led to a capital murder arrest warrant for 41-year-old Alvin Charles McKnight, known as Pookie, of Gilmer. Authorities said McKnight and Waters had recently ended a cohabiting relationship and shared a child, and characterized the incident as domestic violence.

McKnight was described as a Black male, 6 feet 5 inches, about 280 pounds, with a muscular build and braided hair with blond highlights. His abandoned vehicle was recovered, his phone signal was tracked briefly, and investigators said he likely received help to leave the area; his sister Laquesha Monique McKnight was arrested for interfering with the apprehension of a felon.

Did anyone in Gilmer know Dermetrica or Mandy, or see anything around that residence on November 4?
