It really drives home how deeply interconnected these neighborhoods are, and how each loss sends shockwaves through so many lives. While Marcus certainly wasn't the only victim in 2017, his story, like those of countless others, underscores the urgent need for change. Chicago's tackling of the deeper issues at play here seems crucial but slow-moving. I hope that sharing stories like his not only keeps his memory alive but also continues to push for meaningful, systemic changes. My thoughts are with Marcus's family and all those affected by this ongoing violence.
