I can't shake the haunting feeling after learning about the tragedy in Orange, Texas. What stands out to me is how everyone who knew them described the family’s gatherings as filled with warmth and laughter. It's so hard to reconcile those happy memories with the terrible outcome.
My heart truly goes out to Janiya's friends and classmates. Losing someone so young and full of potential is beyond devastating. They’ll carry this weight with them for the rest of their lives. Can you imagine returning to school and Janiya not being there? Every empty seat and quiet moment must be a painful reminder of what they've lost.
At times like this, we often question how things could have turned out differently. I hope the community can come together to support the friends and family left behind. They’re going to need so much love and care in the days to come. If anyone knows of any local support efforts or ways to help from afar, please share.

At just 17, she had her whole life ahead of her, filled with possibilities and dreams yet to be realized. The way the community has come together in response is truly touching. Vigils and memorials are helping people find a way to cope, but it’s clear everyone is searching for answers to the 'why' behind such a horrific act. My heart goes out to Janiya’s friends and classmates – losing someone so young and full of promise is unimaginable. This tragedy reminds us all to cherish those we hold dear. Let's continue to support the family and each other through this difficult time.
