I've been following the discussions about the tragic loss of Isaac J. Reed, and something that's been weighing on my mind is the impact on his two young children. It truly breaks my heart to think of them growing up without their father. From everything I've read, Isaac seemed to be a dedicated dad who was very much involved in his kids' lives. It makes me think about the wider ramifications of this senseless act—how do communities support children who have lost a parent to violence? I hope there are services in place to help his family during such an unimaginably difficult time. I've read about some Chicago organizations that provide counseling and other resources, but are they enough? It’d be comforting to know the community is rallying around Isaac’s children and family to offer support and love. If anyone knows of resources or organizations doing this kind of work, please share. It's so important for these kids to see that they’re not alone and that their dad mattered to so many. My thoughts are constantly with them and everyone affected by this tragedy.
