remains found on Deep Creek Road were identified as Laniyah Danyell Whitted, who went missing in november 2021. deputies say her remains were found in late july and the NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the ID in august. a man, Kabron Markell Thaggard (22), was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a body; deputies say he is being held with no bond and was already in custody on other pending violent charges. the sheriff's office said the family has been notified.

this has been such a long case for her family, and i'm hoping this leads thru to answers at court , Thaggard is expected to make a first appearance the day after the arrest , and that Laniyah's family gets the justice and closure they didnt have for years.
Has anyone else heard anything more about Laniyah's boyfriend? I mean, what was really going on between them that night? It's frustrating how little info we're getting. I read somewhere that they had an argument at the hotel just before she vanished. Was there any history of conflict between them before this? It just seems odd for a phone to get broken at such a crucial time... Feel like this might be more important than the attention it's getting. Please share if anyone knows anything more about him or their relationship. Anything might help keep the search for her going strong.
Has anyone else been following the Laniyah Daneyell Whitted case? Something that's been bothering me is the broken phone situation. I can't help but wonder how it got damaged. Was it broken during the argument with her boyfriend, or did something else happen afterwards? It just feels like this could be a key piece in understanding what happened that night.
Also, I know the CUE Center has been involved in searching for her, but it seems like there's been little progress. Does anyone think organizing more search efforts with local volunteers could help? Her unique birthmark and piercings should make her relatively easy to identify, so it's frustrating that there hasn't been more of an effort to put her face out there in nearby states, too. Just hoping someone somewhere remembers seeing her.
Hey everyone, I’ve been following Laniyah Daneyell Whitted’s case, and something doesn’t sit right with the whole hotel situation. From what we're piecing together, she was last seen with her boyfriend at a hotel where they had an argument before she vanished. The tricky part is her phone being broken, making me wonder if it was intentional. Anyone else think there's more to that hotel argument than we know? Seems odd that an argument would lead to a missing person without anyone knowing more details. Hope someone steps forward—it's been too long with too few answers. What are your thoughts?
