Has anyone looked into the possibility that Vern might have left his car voluntarily after waking up? The report mentions he was seen intoxicated and sleeping in the front seat, but by morning he was gone. Could he have woken up disoriented and wandered off on his own? That area around Portage Bar is pretty remote, right? Maybe he tried to walk somewhere for help or to get his bearings and got lost. I wonder if there were any other reports from that morning of a man walking along the road or knocking on doors nearby. It feels like this angle needs more exploration. What are your thoughts? Any locals familiar with that area back then?
Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the Vern case and I came across something interesting that I wanted to see if anyone else has thought about. The fact that his car was still in the ditch the next morning makes me wonder if there's any record of anyone reporting it before 9:00 a.m. on 11/07/1961. Did anyone else drive by and notice the car overnight or know if it had been towed at all after he disappeared? I feel like there might be something to uncover about the hours in between. Maybe someone even saw him leave or noticed another vehicle nearby. Figured I’d throw it out there to see if anyone else has been looking in this direction.
