Hey everyone, I’ve been thinking a lot about Robert "Tada" Warren and the legacy he left in his community. Something that’s been weighing on my mind is how his friends described him as a "protector." It’s incredibly moving to see how he was someone people could rely on, despite the challenges and risks in an area like North Lawndale. Being known for looking out for others in such a tough environment says so much about his character. It’s frustrating to see a person who had such a positive impact on those around him being taken away under these circumstances. I mean, lighting so many candles in his memory shows just how much he meant to those who knew him. It makes me wonder what more can be done to nurture and support people who are trying to make a difference in neighborhoods with these tough realities. We need more resources and initiatives to protect those who step up to help their communities, like Robert.
