Has anyone else looked into the geography around Deception Pass where Erik Ekholm's car was found? I was checking out some old maps and realized how dense and rugged that area is. Even if it's a popular hiking spot, it’s easy to get into really isolated parts if you stray from the main trails. I wonder if the terrain's difficulty may have played a role in the lack of evidence. If he went exploring or perhaps became disoriented, could he have ended up in a place that's simply tough to access for search teams? It just seems like a challenging location for anyone, let alone someone in their 80s. Curious to hear other thoughts or if anyone familiar with the area has any insights.
Hey everyone,
I've been reading up on the Erik Ekholm case, and there's something I can't quite wrap my head around. Why would his car be found near Deception Pass, of all places? I know it's a popular spot for hikers and tourists, but was Erik an avid outdoorsman or did he have any connections to that area?
I was thinking maybe he intended to meet someone there. The location just seems random if he didn't have any known interest in hiking or the outdoors. Was there any information on whether Erik frequently visited Deception Pass or if he had reasons to be there outside of leisure?
It just seems like there might be more to the location itself. What drew him there in the first place?
Has anyone else been looking into the background of Erik Ekholm lately? I'm curious about his career at Georgia-Pacific and whether there might be any connection between his professional life and his disappearance. From what I've read, he was quite influential in his field, and I wonder if that's been thoroughly explored as part of the investigation. Given that his car was found near Deception Pass, which is a popular spot, it seems odd that nobody spotted anything unusual back then. Also, I was thinking - with him being such a public figure, wouldn’t there have been more public interest or pressure to solve the case? Just speculating here, but sometimes the professional angle doesn't get as much attention, especially in older cases like this one. Curious to hear what others think!
