I was reading through some old articles and came across the tragic case of Ramon C. Flores. It's really awful to think about another young life cut short amidst the chaos in Chicago that year. What struck me was how this kind of violence so often targets young men who have so much potential and a future ahead of them. Ramon was only 21, just starting out in life, and it's incredibly sad to imagine what his family must be going through, still missing him every day. It's frustrating to see how these cases, like many others in 2017, often hit a dead end with no resolution or justice for the victims and their loved ones. I can't even begin to fathom the community's pain and the helplessness that comes with this overwhelming cycle of violence. I really hope that sharing these stories can somehow lead to more awareness and eventually some substantial change. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own neighborhood, and no family should have to endure this type of loss.
