I’ve been following the discussion on Thaddeus J. Dean's case, and one thing that really strikes me is how little attention is sometimes given to the preventative programs in place to tackle gun violence. It's frustrating to see communities continuously grapple with this without seeing significant improvements. Thaddeus’s death is a stark reminder of how much more needs to be done. From what I gather, there were initiatives meant to address these issues through community outreach and investing in youth programs. But as far as I know, they are often underfunded or lack enough support to make the impact needed. Has anyone seen any effective programs in other neighborhoods or even cities that we could advocate for in places like where Thaddeus lived? It’s hard to comprehend the pain felt by Thaddeus's family and friends. Losing someone in such a sudden, violent manner is not something anyone should have to endure. Hoping for the day when Chicago can turn the tide on this kind of violence. Anyone have thoughts on what might be done next to push for real change?
