November 26th is a date I imagine many of us in the South LA community won't easily forget. This devastating loss, not just for the immediate friends and family of Jose Bolanos, but for all of us in the city, has truly highlighted how vulnerable the homeless population is. I've been thinking about the collaborative effort that went into catching this suspect. It really shows that when law enforcement agencies work together, significant progress can be made swiftly. However, it does leave me wondering, is there more that can be done proactively? What steps could be taken to protect the homeless community from becoming targets in the first place? Also, I've been hearing discussions about installing more streetlights and emergency call boxes in high-risk areas. While these can be helpful, I'm curious if any of you have additional ideas that could contribute to making our neighborhoods safer for everyone out there without a roof over their heads. Sending all my thoughts to those directly affected by this senseless series of events. I hope they find some comfort in knowing the community stands with them.

Does anyone else feel deeply unsettled by the fact that there's no clear motive linking Jerrid Joseph Powell to these victims? It just leaves so many questions unanswered, especially for the families and friends of Jose Bolanos, Mark Diggs, Shawn Alvarez, and Nicholas Simbolon. Imagining the pain they must be going through is just unimaginable. My heart goes out to them during this incredibly difficult time. What really hit me was the randomness of the attacks. It shows how vulnerable those living on the streets can be. This situation has really highlighted the urgent need for more support and protection for homeless individuals in our city. Kudos to the LAPD and other agencies for their fast action in apprehending the suspect, but I sincerely hope we see more long-term solutions to prevent such senseless violence in the future. It's scary to think how many lives could be at risk otherwise. Stay safe, everyone.
