Hey everyone, I've been thinking a lot about how Julian Barnes and Jahhoury McGlothin were remembered on those platforms dedicated to victims of gun violence. It’s heartwarming to see people coming together online to honor their lives and share memories. But at the same time, it’s so profoundly upsetting that we’re in a place where these platforms are needed at all. Does anyone know more about how these memorial pages came to be? Was it friends or family who started them? I imagine they could be a small comfort to the loved ones left behind, but it’s hard to fathom the pain they must be feeling right now. I hope these forums keep their stories alive and serve as a reminder of the urgent need for change in our community. If anyone wants to share how these pages have affected them or how they might be helping to foster change, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Maybe we can find some way to support the cause for better prevention of youth violence together. Stay safe, everyone.

Hey everyone, I've been following the tragic events from Oakland, and like many of you, my heart goes out to the families and friends of Julian Barnes and the other young victims. I recently read about how both shootings happened just minutes apart, and it got me thinking about the broader impact this has on our community. I wonder if any local community leaders or organizations are stepping up in response to these shootings. Often, after something so devastating, you see grassroots efforts or vigils being organized, not just for healing but also to call for change. Has anyone in the Oakland area noticed any initiatives or gatherings happening? It's so vital for the community to come together during times like these, and any push for strengthening resources for our youth would be a positive step. It's unbelievable how lives are cut short so quickly, leaving families and friends to pick up the pieces. Let's keep sharing information and supporting one another, hoping that justice will soon be served for Julian, Jahhoury, and the other young souls lost.
