I just can't stop thinking about the impact on Miguel's family. Losing someone so young and with so much ahead of him is truly devastating. I heard that his family is really close-knit and this has been such a tough blow for them. It warms my heart to know that the community came together during the funeral mass at St. John Neumann to support them. I wonder how the 19-year-old who was injured is doing. It must be so difficult not only dealing with his own trauma but also knowing what happened to Miguel. I hope he has a strong support system around him right now. Also, I’ve been thinking about the role community interventions could have in potentially steering young people away from gang affiliations. Maybe something should be done earlier on to provide other pathways for kids in the neighborhood. It's just such a tragic situation all around.
