I recently stumbled across the case of Shima and Yoshiko Funakoshi, and I can't stop thinking about it—especially the oil slick found near the crash site. What do you all think could have caused such a noticeable oil slick in that area? Given the depth of the ocean there, could the oil slick provide any clues about what happened to them or the plane? Plus, the rough waters could have spread the debris widely. It seems like those factors might complicate search efforts, but maybe there's something to the oil slick that hasn't been fully explored. Curious to hear your thoughts or if there's similar cases where this has led to important findings.

I’ve been following the Funakoshi case closely, and one thing that perplexes me is the depth mentioned in the search area. At 75 feet, you’d think that the search teams would have better luck recovering more debris or perhaps even something more definitive. Does anyone with knowledge about ocean searches have insights on why nothing significant might have been found? I've also read about currents in that region—could they have dispersed the wreckage further than expected? Would love to hear any expert opinions or similar case experiences.
