I’ve been thinking a lot about Adonis Johnson and the impact his death must have had on those who knew him best. It’s devastating to consider how his loved ones have to navigate life without him, especially given how common these acts of violence have become in Chicago. It’s easy to get lost in the statistics, but each number is a real person with family and friends who carry that loss every day. I can’t even begin to imagine their pain. I hope this sends a signal that change is desperately needed, and that we, as a community, can come together to support those who are left behind and demand more effective solutions to this violence. RIP Adonis. You are not forgotten.
