I've been following the case of Frankie Baez, and I can't stop thinking about what a lively spirit people say he was. It's so difficult to comprehend how someone so young and full of promise could be taken away so suddenly. I came across a few anecdotes from his friends who mentioned how Frankie always went out of his way to help others, often volunteering within his community. It just breaks my heart to think that someone who cared so much for those around him could become a victim of the senseless violence plaguing Chicago. I really hope more attention is given to the voices of those in the communities affected by such tragedies. Hearing about individuals like Frankie makes it clear there’s more to these stories than just numbers; these are real people with dreams, families, and lives that were cut far too short. If there’s any silver lining, it’s that conversations about addressing the root causes of violence seem to be getting louder. I just hope it's not too late for change. Does anyone know if more community initiatives have been started since then to prevent things like this from happening again?
