Did anyone else know Jaime from her involvement at the Carteret Community Theatre? I remember how passionate she was about the local plays and events. She always brought so much energy and warmth whenever I saw her at rehearsals or performances. You could tell that she loved every part of it, from helping with costumes to just being there to support the actors. I can't even begin to imagine what the theatre group is going through right now. Losing someone who was such a positive force in a community space leaves a big hole that’s hard to fill. If anyone has stories about her time there, it might be a nice way to honor her memory and maybe even help the healing process for those who miss her dearly. ?
I'm deeply saddened by the circumstances surrounding the tragic loss of Jaime Hicks Long. Just reading about her achievements and community involvement paints a vivid picture of someone who dedicated her life to making a positive impact. It's truly devastating to think how quickly such a bright light in the community can be extinguished by such a tragic act.
Her efforts in establishing employee initiatives must have touched so many lives, not to mention her role with the Carteret Community Theatre. I can only imagine the hole her absence leaves behind for her daughter, family, and friends. Having been so active in the theater community, the loss must feel immense for fellow "theatre moms" who saw her as part of their extended family.
It's hard to comprehend what went on behind closed doors, making it more important than ever for communities to ensure there is support for those going through tough situations at home. We never truly know how someone is struggling, which is why it's crucial to foster environments where people feel safe and supported to reach out for help.
Let's keep Jaime's loved ones in our thoughts, honoring her legacy by supporting each other and those in crisis, so that maybe we can prevent future tragedies.
Having grown up in Morehead City, I was always amazed by how tight-knit our community was, and seeing how everyone has rallied around Jaime's family during this terrible time is a testament to that closeness. It’s difficult to wrap my mind around the loss of someone who not only was such an integral part of our local government but also brought so much joy to the community theater scene.
Jaime’s work with the Carteret Community Theatre—acting as a mentor and being one of the beloved "theatre moms"—made such a difference to so many young people. Her absence will leave a huge void there. It's clear she touched many lives, both professionally and personally.
For those of us who were fortunate enough to work with her on community projects or see her talent and passion first-hand, her kindness and enthusiasm were infectious. Let’s remember her for the positive influence she was and continue to support each other and her family as they navigate this heart-wrenching loss. Stay strong, Morehead City. Hug your loved ones tightly, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you or someone you know needs help.
