I can't stop thinking about the trauma Jaylan McWilson's family must be going through. Losing someone in such a violent way, especially at the hands of someone they likely knew, adds another layer of pain to their loss. Jaylan seemed to have such a vibrant personality, full of life and talent. I can't imagine the void his absence has left in his family's lives. The reality of gun violence hitting so close to home is a chilling reminder of how prevalent it is in our society. It's heartening to see justice being served with Dennis Parson’s sentencing, but it doesn't reverse the family's tragedy. I hope authorities continue to address the root causes of these crimes to prevent another family from experiencing such a devastation. Sending all my thoughts to those who knew and loved Jaylan.
