Hey everyone,
I’ve been following the case of Kimanhi "Troy" Boyd Hinds and I can't stop thinking about the role of the bystanders during that chaotic night at Flour City Station. It's haunting to imagine being there as things took such a tragic turn. Why is it that in some situations people freeze, and in others, they jump in to help? It seems like security tried to intervene, but the outcome was still devastating.
This isn’t to place blame, but rather to think about how these incidents can change the lives of so many—including those who simply happened to be there that night. The witness testimonies, especially from Hinds' brother and the security guard, were crucial for the trial. I'm so thankful for their courage to share what must have been incredibly painful memories to relive. It's a small comfort to know they played a part in bringing justice for Hinds' family.
What do you all think? How can we better equip individuals in potentially volatile situations to safely help? Is there more that bars and clubs can do to ensure safety without escalating conflicts? My heart goes out to Hinds' family and all those who were there that night. They’ll be in my thoughts.
