There’s so much to unpack with this case, but I’m focusing on Dennis Speed’s background and how it played a role in this tragedy. It’s unsettling to see how someone with such a history could still end up in a position to commit more violence. His criminal past, especially with charges like assault and endangering the welfare of a child, makes me wonder how someone like him slipped through the cracks. What systems, if any, failed here? It’s also terrifying to think of how easy it was for him to access a weapon illegally. My heart really goes out to the families of Ervin and Porter. It’s hard to imagine the pain they’re going through, knowing their loved ones were taken in such a violent way. This tragedy, sadly, highlights how lethal the streets can be and the urgent need for more effective measures against illegal firearms and repeat offenders. Hoping for justice and peace for everyone involved.
