I’ve been thinking a lot about the surveillance footage in this case. It's chilling to imagine how these cameras captured such a violent act, yet it’s that same footage that played a crucial role in securing the arrests. The idea that Perkins’ own cousin plotted against him over something that probably seemed so minor in the grand scheme of things is just devastating. Having read about the dispute, I can't help but wonder how things might have been different if they'd managed to reconcile. It’s just so tragic to think about the loved ones Money Perkins leaves behind, especially his kids. They’ve lost a father in such a senseless manner, and my heart goes out to them and everyone who cared for him. This case really hits home the importance of trying to find peace with the people in our lives, as grudges can lead to unimaginable consequences.
I can't stop thinking about how this terrible crime involved such a young person. Zecharyah Slay is only 16! It makes me wonder about the influences in a young person’s life that could lead them down such a destructive path. At that age, they should be worrying about school or hanging out with friends, not getting involved in something so violent. My heart goes out to Money's family and also to those who care about Zecharyah, because now his life is forever changed too. It's just so tragic all the way around. How can we as a society prevent our youth from being pulled into this kind of situation? Given what I’ve read about Money’s generosity, I can’t help but think he would have been the type to champion initiatives for young people. It’s all just such a terrible waste.
