I've been following the tragic case of Shaunte’ Harris and Steven Harris, and my heart goes out to their families and friends. I can only imagine the pain Shaunte’s son, in particular, must be going through after discovering the scene. It must be utterly devastating.
Something that isn’t talked about enough in cases like this is what happens to those left behind after such a tragedy. I attended the memorial service for Shaunte’ at Mt. Zion MB Church and was struck by the profound grief but also the love and strength that filled the room. It was clear that she was deeply cherished by her community.
I can’t help but wonder about the resources and support systems in place for families after such traumatic events. Does anyone know if there have been any community efforts to support the Harris family or others affected? It feels important to not only seek justice and answers but also to rally around those in mourning. If there are any organized efforts, I would love to help out in any way I can.
