I’ve been thinking a lot about the tragic case of Victor Fooks. It’s so shocking and senseless how someone who was such a pillar of the community could be taken away so violently. One thing that really struck me is how dedicated he was to making life better for everyone at the hotel. I can't stop thinking about how he lived there with his daughter and grandchildren—imagine the horror his family must be feeling right now. The community dinners and barbecues he organized show just how much he cared about bringing people together and creating a supportive environment. Losing someone who put so much effort into fostering a positive space for everyone must be devastating for those who knew him. Just hoping for justice and some peace for his family and the community he helped build.

I still can't wrap my mind around the tragedy at the InTown Suites. Victor Fooks seemed like such a genuine and caring person, always looking out for the residents and trying to build a sense of community where he could. It's so hard to find people like that these days, especially in a transient environment like an extended-stay hotel. The aspect that really stands out to me is how he crawled back inside after being shot, which shows immense strength and determination. It's so poignant to think that his last moments were spent trying to get back to the place he had poured so much effort and love into. It seems unreal that someone who spent his days fostering a sense of safety and belonging for others would meet such a violent end. Major kudos to the law enforcement officers who quickly tracked down and apprehended the suspects—community safety is definitely a major concern right now. I can't imagine what his family must be going through, especially after celebrating his birthday and the holiday with him just days before. Hoping they find the strength to get through this difficult time. I’ll be following this one closely and thinking of the family and residents who are undoubtedly feeling the void left by Victor's sudden and tragic departure.
