I've been following Sarah Nichols's case closely, and the whole situation is so troubling. I keep thinking about Sarah's early achievements and how she was truly on a path to make a difference in the world. Her work with renewable energy is one of the many examples of her potential and ambition. It's so upsetting to think that someone with such a drive to better the planet and the lives of others could have her future stolen away just like that. It seems like there's so much focus on who the person of interest might be or what the term "person of interest" even means in this context if there haven't been charges. Meanwhile, the fact remains that a talented and beloved individual who was clearly a beacon of inspiration in her community is no longer with us. My heart goes out to her family and friends. I hope they're finding strength in each other and in sharing memories of Sarah's incredible life and accomplishments. Being from Nixa myself, I feel like this has hit the community in a profound way. We can only hope that the Nixa Police Department continues their work diligently, and some form of justice and answers emerge soon. It feels like they owe it to Sarah, if not for closure, then at least for honoring who she was and everything she stood for.
