I've been following the tragic case of Michael Powell's murder back in December 2014, and I can't help but think about the community's role in these tragedies. It was such a difficult year for Atlanta, with so many lives lost to gun violence. What strikes me about Michael's story is how his family and the local community came together afterward, trying to push for change.
I've read about neighborhood watch programs gaining traction around that time, and I wonder how much impact they've had since. It’s inspiring to see people taking action and trying to make a difference, but it’s painful knowing it often takes a tragedy like Michael's to kick-start those initiatives. I really hope the attention his case brought helps keep the momentum going so fewer families have to experience this kind of loss. Anyone know if there’s been any recent progress in those efforts?
