Hey everyone,
I'm absolutely stunned after hearing about the tragic deaths of Tiateiyuna Day and Karissa Job. Flicking through the posts, I noticed there hasn't been much discussion about the role social media played in this case.
It's chilling to think that a livestreamed argument on Facebook was the catalyst for authorities to be alerted. Social media has become such a pervasive part of our lives that it can have real-world repercussions in unpredictable ways. I’m wondering, does anyone else find it concerning how these platforms can sometimes escalate situations rather than de-escalate them? Maybe more needs to be done to ensure there's a quicker response from authorities when such incidents are broadcast.
My heart goes out to their families, who are now forced to grapple with this immense loss on such a public stage. It must be so incredibly tough for them to see everything unfold like this.

The situation in Durant has really got me thinking about the role social media plays in these disputes. It's so chilling to know that an argument broadcast on Facebook Live turned into something so tragic and irreversible. It's heartbreaking to think about the family dynamics involved, especially within cousins who shared a bond. Having a platform where tensions can flare without immediate face-to-face intervention might escalate situations beyond what anyone anticipates. This makes me wonder if there's more we could be doing to monitor or even mediate these conflicts online before they become so dire. My thoughts are with Tiateiyuna and Karissa’s loved ones as they try to make sense of this unspeakable tragedy. ?
