I knew Lori back in 1981 when we were driving for Ft Lauderdale Yellow Cab. Lori was a tortured soul who constantly sought oblivion. She was a member of the Junkie fraternity who were driving Taxi in those days, and more than once, she would be around someones house half comatose on opiate. I had the feeling she had endured horrendous abuse as a child and just wanted to be comfortably numb. I knew her stepfather, Warren Bennet, who hinted that she was not very well. After her death, the cab drivers grapevine in Ft Lauderdale thought that she had overdosed and died on someone, who then dumped her body in a remote area to distance themselves from it. Mainly to avoid police interest in their own drug activity. Cab drivers are very familiar with the remote areas in Broward and Palm Beach County. She was out there for several days in the Florida summer sun before she was found, which would have made a full autopsy a challenge to say the least. If they had done a proper blood screen, that would have found a lethal amount of opiate iin her system. Lori is at peace now in the arms of God. No more pain. I hope this helps. Thomas Gardner

What a sad story. Thank you for sharing your story. She was so young.....:(

Hey everyone, I stumbled across some info on the tragic case of Lori Markham Soles and thought I’d share something that's been nagging at me. Has anyone looked into the possibility that Lori might have known her killer? I mean, it's just a theory, but the spot where she was found seems so specific and out of the way. Could it have been someone she trusted enough to go there with voluntarily?
It really makes my heart go out to her family, knowing they've spent decades without closure. Maybe someone she was close to in her daily life holds some tiny piece of the puzzle without even realizing it. Any small memory or detail, even if it seems insignificant, could make the difference. Just hoping anyone with insights or memories from back then finally steps up. It’s frustrating but I believe there’s still hope for justice. Stay safe, everyone.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the location where Lori Soles’ body was found. The fact that it was so hidden and remote makes me wonder if the killer knew the area well or had scoped it out specifically for that purpose. It seems like it wasn’t just a random spot. If anyone is familiar with that part of Boca Raton, did it have any significance or history back in 1981? It might be a long shot, but maybe there was something happening in that area back then, or maybe someone saw unusual activity around that time. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for Lori’s family, not having all the answers. Any little detail could be crucial.
I stumbled upon Lori Markham Soles' case recently, and it has deeply affected me. I can't imagine the pain her family must have felt all these years with no answers. It's perplexing to think about how someone could be taken away like that, and the person responsible has managed to slip through the cracks for so long.
One thing I keep questioning is the location where Lori was found. The canal area west of Boca Raton isn't a spot you'd just stumble upon by accident. It seemed like someone was familiar with the area and deliberately chose it to hide her body. Does anyone know if there were similar cases in the region around that time? It just feels like there could be a pattern or links to other unsolved cases.
If anyone here has been following this case or has any thoughts, I would love to hear them. Sometimes the smallest detail can make the biggest difference. Let's keep Lori in our thoughts and hope for a resolution soon.
