It's incredibly difficult to process tragedies like this, especially when young lives are involved. My heart goes out to Keon'Ne's family and friends during this unimaginably difficult time. While discussing the larger picture of gun violence, I can’t help but feel drawn to the loving words shared by her aunt and godmother about the amazing person Keon’Ne was becoming. One thing that stands out to me is how she had just hit major milestones in her life—graduating high school and attending prom. These are moments so many of us cherish and remember fondly for years, yet hers were cruelly stolen in an instant. The absence of arrests must be infuriating for her family. It's a haunting reminder of how slow justice can sometimes be, especially in the face of such senseless violence. I truly hope that some leads come up soon to give her family some peace, or at least a step towards it. No family should have to wait this long for answers. Joining in with the community calls for more safety and youth programs, I really believe it’s crucial we find ways to prevent these setups for tragedy. But for now, let's hope the police can bring some closure to Keon'Ne’s loved ones.
