It's so devastating to hear about Maxine's story. I can't help but think about the obstacles she faced leading up to that terrible day. She did everything she could to protect herself, but it seems like the system failed her. What more could she have done? It's frustrating to see that there haven't been any arrests yet, but I hope the investigation brings all the details to light and leads to justice. I really feel for her friends and family, especially knowing she was taking such brave steps towards a new chapter. This situation makes me think a lot about how we, as a society, respond to those who reach out for help. Clearly, more needs to be done at both individual and systemic levels around domestic violence so that actions like Maxine's actually result in protection. Sending thoughts and strength to all who knew her; Maxine deserved so much better.
