I've been following the tragic case of Deontay Townes, and I can't stop thinking about the impact this has had on his community and loved ones. It's absolutely devastating to see such a vibrant young life taken so soon. I read somewhere that Deontay was really passionate about music and was even trying to work on some tracks of his own. It breaks my heart that his potential will never be fully realized. In the face of all this, I think it's incredibly brave how his family is speaking up about mental health. This is such a critical conversation, especially given the trauma they're experiencing. I hope their advocacy brings attention to the need for support in communities that are grieving. My deepest condolences go out to the Townes family and everyone who knew Deontay. If anyone has info on organizations or events doing work in mental health in Baltimore, please share. Our communities need all the support we can offer right now.

I just wanted to take a moment to recognize the strength and bravery of Deontay Townes’ family, especially his mom, Kimberly, for speaking out about mental health in the wake of such a tragedy. It's so important but also incredibly difficult to address these issues when you're in the midst of such profound loss. I can't imagine the pain they’re going through, and yet they’re still using their voice to potentially help others. We often talk about the victims of these heartbreaking crimes, and rightfully so, but the families left behind have their own battles to fight. The fact that Kimberly is doing this, while dealing with her unimaginable grief, says so much about her character and the love she has for her son. I hope the conversation around mental health continues, and that positive changes emerge from such a senseless act. Thinking of the Townes family and everyone who knew and loved Deontay. Stay strong.
