I’ve been following the Owasso case closely, and it’s so disheartening to hear about Atia's tragic death. As someone who grew up in a small town, I know how tight-knit communities can be, and I can only imagine the ripple effect this event has had on the residents there. What really stands out to me is the double life Essence seemed to have had. Being a 4th-grade teacher, she must have appeared so nurturing to her students. Kids often look up to their teachers as role models, and now those children and their families are having to process the unthinkable actions of someone they trusted. ? It truly raises a lot of questions about how well we know the people around us and what signs, if any, could have been missed. Hoping the legal proceedings bring some clarity and closure to this very complex and painful situation. Anyone else have thoughts on the community's response or the district's next steps in supporting their students through this?

Hey everyone, long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I'm absolutely shocked by the recent news coming out of Owasso about Atia Fields. I can't help but reflect on the impact that Essence's actions have on so many lives, especially the students at Mills Elementary where she taught. How do you even begin to explain something like this to a classroom of 4th graders? I read that Essence was well-liked at the school, which makes this even harder to process. It's just heartbreaking to think about how her students will cope with the news that their teacher is involved in such a tragic incident. I hope the school is providing counselors and support for these kids who are probably just as confused and affected by this as we all are. Sending strength and love to everyone affected, especially Atia's family and friends, who are dealing with immeasurable loss. It makes you think about how crucial it is to have open conversations about domestic violence and mental health resources. Just a really sad situation all around.
