Kenji's death has been on my mind a lot this week, especially since attending the vigil at the AIDS Memorial Pathway. Seeing the community come together, even if it was later than it should have been, gave me a bit of solace, but it also reminded me how often Black trans lives are overlooked or undervalued. Kenji was someone who should have been able to celebrate Pride with joy, not fear. It’s infuriating and tragic that her life was cut short during a time meant to celebrate diversity and resilience. I wanted to mention the Lavender Rights Project’s statement—they really captured the urgency and need for better media coverage and support. It made me think about ways we can all amplify voices and advocate for those whose stories are ignored or marginalized. If you haven't already, please consider donating to the GoFundMe for Kenji’s family. Supporting her family is one small way we can stand with the Black trans community. We need to keep pushing for justice, not just in finding Kenji's killer but in ensuring trans individuals' safety and rights in our society. If anyone has any updates or wants to keep discussing ways to support, let’s keep this thread going. Kenji deserves to be remembered and honored.

Hey everyone, I was thinking about how Kenji Spurgeon's case hasn't seen the media coverage it truly deserved from the start. It’s been months, and aside from initial reports, it feels like her story was quickly buried under other headlines. I know the police have renewed their plea for information, but I can't help wondering if the public awareness might've been higher if her story was given more prominence earlier on. It's so important that we keep discussing and spreading the word about Kenji and cases like hers to ensure they don’t just fade into the background. Every bit of attention can help lead to justice for Kenji and her loved ones. Let's keep the conversation alive and hope for some much-needed answers soon.
